Counseling & Psychotherapy

The Basics

Substance Abuse

Substance use can start as a pleasurable social lubricant bringing friends together, but it can also spin out of control into terrible heartache, loneliness, loss and even death. What I hope to do is create an environment where we can explore your concerns and figure out what you can do to minimize or eliminate the risks of substance use and find the solutions that work for you. Each individual is unique; just as the substances used vary, so can the best approach to treatment.

I also work frequently with the partners of those with substance abuse issues.  It seems like some people are simply destined to choose partners who have some kind of problem controlling their substance use, and these individuals end up spending their life trying to help.  I work with the partners just as much as the substance abuser and, while the work is different, I know how to help.
